The Best ways on how to Stay on your diet while traveling (Vegan/Plant Based Edition)

Traveling while Vegan
23 Aug
Fruits and Vegetables

Everyone has goals.

Do you have goals? A wedding to attend? Possibly a vacation planned or just want to get leaner? But you don’t want to mess up your progress. I get it, Life gets in the way of EVERYTHING! BUT you are so determined that you will not let anything stop you from your next milestone.

Drum Roll please…Here are some tips on how to stay on track while traveling and dieting (vegan/plant based edition).

Sidenote: I am not a vegan but I do all support all types of eating styles. So rock on with your bad self.

1. Raw Veggies/Fruits (Micro nutrients)

Vegetables are a vegan staple
Vegetables are packed with nutrients!

These I can’t stress enough! Micro nutrients are a very important part of your success. Macros are not just macros or calories, certain foods do promote better health, a better immune system, clearer skin etc. I personally do not count macros, (but I have in the past) What is important here is that you base and choose your foods around whole foods, not so much just counting macros and filling in your calorie goal. Even if you added maybe hummus to these, a vegan dressing or something just to dash it up…This is a HIGHLY recommended travel snack. Hey, if you do not feel like cutting any vegetables up…There is always pre cut ones. 🙂 You’ll thank me later.

2. Biena Chickpeas Snacks

THESE! I take these every where! Chickpeas give a substantial amount of protein and fiber! Fiber is important, and when you are not getting in enough fiber you can use one of my favorite fiber supplements that I use every night with a shake. Be aware don’t try and use fiber supplement as as fiber replacement use it as exactly what it is, a SUPPLEMENT. These bad boys are packed with so much flavor! (I LOVE the ranch ones) but the variety is out of this world. Buy one flavor or buy them all!

About the product:
• Chickpea Snacks. Big flavor, great crunch!
• 11 total grams of Protein and Fiber (5g Protein + 6g Fiber) per serving
• 78% Less Fat than Peanuts
• All-natural, non-GMO ingredients. Nothing artificial.
• Naturally gluten-free

There are a lot of fiber supplements out there, but this is my go to and by fav favorite one. You don’t have to buy organic or this brand. Stay within your budget! Their are other great alternatives.

3. Garden of Life Greens and Protein Powder

Can you say wow? This is a powerhouse snack or meal. Vegan or plant based protein is not whey so beware, the taste is different but still yummy! Definitely a flavor and texture you will have to get used to. I’m not going to lie this in with some almond milk, nut butter and a banana! It is heaven. I can drink this everyday. They have your basic chocolate, vanilla and unflavored versions. Unflavored is good for those who maybe want to add it to baking or just don’t care for flavor.

About the product:
HIGH PROTEIN: 20 grams of raw organic plant protein from Organic Peas and Sprouted Organic Grains, Seeds and Legumes plus 6 organic greens and veggies
POST WORKOUT RECOVERY: Help your muscles recover with a clean nutritional shake powered by organic protein and nutrient-rich organic green energy
GREEN SUPERFOOD DRINK: This delicious chocolate protein powder is power-packed with green energy from raw, organic greens and green juices
PROTEIN POWDER WITH PROBIOTICS: Tasty, smooth protein shake with 1.5 billion CFU probiotics and 13 non-GMO enzymes for easy digestion
VEGAN PROTEIN POWDER: Organic, gluten free, vegan, dairy free, soy free, Informed Choice Certified (Trusted by Sport), non-GMO whole food protein

Nuts and Seeds
Nuts and seeds are essential!

4. Raw Nuts and Seeds

Nuts and seeds are filled with micronutrients and healthy fats. Healthy fats are needed in the body just as much as protein and carbs. Like protein and carbs they service an amazing purpose! Don’t get too carried away with these, you can definitely over eat them! Take a handful and go on with your day…OK, maybe two handfuls.

5. Garden of Life Organic Fit Bar

Another Garden of Life product, I know :). Their stuff is top quality! Remember quality of quantity! The taste is outstanding, very portable and easy alternative if you don’t want to bring a tub of protein powder or do not like protein powder in general. I suggest a box if you can have just one and you SAVE money of course. I would definitely save these and protein powders for more of a snack, although great whole foods are the way to go.

About the product

  • Certified usda organic, non-gmo project verified, nsf certified for sport, informed-choice for sport certified. Certified vegan, gluten free, dairy free, soy free
  • Refuels and repairs muscles
  • Complete multi-sourced plant protein
  • Eat anytime throughout the day to replace or in addition to your protein intake
  • Four decadent flavors; peanut butter chocolate, chocolate min, chocolate fudge, sea salt caramel

These are just some ideas, but snack ideas are endless! Like I mentioned above snacks are snacks and whole foods are whole foods. You want to be as satisfied as possible! and well food does that. Being a vegan or plant based is just like any other diet or lifestyle. You really have to put in the effort if you want it to work. I’m not saying one diet is superior to the other, you really need to find out what works for you. Hope this helps in your vegan journey! Until next time!

How to make Cold Brew Coffee
13 Aug

I know waking up to that Cup of Joe is part of our glorious morning routine, but if you have a bad stomach like mine your belly and gut can only take so much acid. For me to say that I don’t drink traditional coffee would be a lie, but I LOVE my cold brew!

There are many reasons why cold brew is superior.
1. It taste better
2. Helps with weight loss due to the high caffeine content
3. Helps with sensitive stomachs due to the low acid.
4. It’s just the bomb!

What you need to make the most awesomness cold brew coffee.
2 Pitchers ( we are making a few servings)
Measuring Cup
Coffee grounds of your choice – Fall in love Ground Coffee is my current love affair.

Cold Brew Coffee good for your gut
Fall is around the corner so…I got me some fall coffee for my cold brew.

Step 1. The ratio of the coffee is important, for every 1/3 cup of grounds you will need 1 1/2 cups of water.

Step 2. Pour as much grounds as you wish into the pitcher and mix it with the water, make sure the grounds are submerged in the water. Mix until all the grounds are soaked.

Step 3. Let the coffee sit from 12-24 hours depending on your flavor and taste.

Step 4. Strain the coffee through a paper towel, cheese cloth, coffee filter or paper towel into other pitcher.

Step 5. Serve over ice, add sweeteners etc, store in refrigerator after.

Step 6. Enjoy!
